Skipton BID, Skipton Town Council, Heritage Action Zone and Craven District Council have worked in collaboration to bring free WiFi and CCTV to Skipton high street.
The services were launched on Monday 27th September, with the hope that with further funding the rest of Skipton will soon be covered.
The WiFi which is password free will enable visitors to join many forums and websites to make the most out of their visit.
The state-of-the-art CCTV cameras will be monitoring the high street 24 hours a day and will enhance the safety of the high street and hopefully discourage anti social behaviour that can occur.
PSCO Gillian Seed and Inspector Breen of North Yorkshire Police said;
“This project demonstrates partnership working at its very best. I am very pleased to see CCTV return to Skipton after it being absent for a decade. Skipton is one of the safest places in the country to live and visit, and this initiative can only enhance that position. I am looking forward to the system coming on line and getting the very best out of it for the benefit of our residents and visitors”
