Skipton BID was pleased to partner with local organisations to deliver the first training session to support businesses to use the new Bleed Kits in the town centre.

The Business Improvement District (BID) North Yorkshire Council, the Community Safety Hub and North Yorkshire Police all worked in partnership to deliver the first training session at Skipton BID office on the High Street on Friday (March 13^th).

Three Bleed Kits were recently installed in Aireville Park, on the toilet blocks in the Town Hall Car Park and next to the defibrillators at Skipton Bus Station – and the training was organised to help businesses to gain a better knowledge of the kits and how and when to use them correctly.

Sarah Howsen, Skipton BID Manager, said: “Following the installation of these new Bleed Kits in our town centre, it’s very important that our business community are aware of the best ways to use them.

“We were pleased to work with local partners to deliver this free training, which was well attended by representatives from different businesses.”

A bleed kit is an emergency pack designed to control severe bleeding before professional medical help arrives, giving bystanders the tools to act quickly in life‑threatening situations.

Use of Bleed Kits and information on life threatening bleeding will now be incorporated into First Aid training sessions funded by the BID and delivered by Tyro Training based at Craven College to support BID Members in the North Yorkshire town.

The newly installed bleed kits in Skipton have also been logged on a national register, known as the Bleed Map, which launched earlier this year.
