Supporting Skipton to Thrive and Grow

As the BID, we want to create an environment where growth is encouraged and has space to develop.

We continue to support investment into the development of new and existing organisations within Skipton and aim to form a positive, diverse business community.

We also champion businesses and organisations across town and encourage inward investment.

As the BID, we commit to:

  • Working with key stakeholders to influence the attractiveness and marketability of vacant sites.
  • Developing links between businesses and organisations in the town centre and its surrounding area to encourage a town centre circular economy.
  • Working towards a positive, vibrant community within the town so all businesses can thrive.
  • Organising and facilitating training for businesses to support growth and development.
  • Introducing a Business Improvement Grant Scheme to support businesses upgrade their frontages to improve the visual appeal and accessibility to support the BID objectives.

What have we delivered?

As we move further into our fourth term, we have delivered a series of campaigns and services to work towards achieving our ‘Thrive & Grow’ objective.

Some of these include:

  • Delivering a series of workshops across the year to benefit the development of the Skipton business community.
  • Continuing to enhance and develop our training programme offer with new additions following extensive research.
  • Developing the Skipton Business Awards to highlight and celebrate our town’s fantastic community.
  • Working on designing and creating a ‘Directory’ to encourage businesses within Skipton to support one another.
  • Partnering with educational establishments such as Craven College to organise and deliver key projects.
  • Using both digital and physical techniques to market our town to other locations and different communities to encourage both visitors and new businesses.
