Skipton BID Newsletter – November 2025

This course is designed for those overseeing fire safety and is essential to ensure you learn beat practice within the workplace.

It will ensure you learn the correct fire safety regulations and legal requirements in case of an emergency and a swift response is required.

Open to BID Members, the workshop will be delivered by Tyro Training on December 10th.

It was announced earlier this week that the Government is giving Mayor’s in England the power to create local overnight visitors levies.

A consultation has been set up to seek views on the design of these new levies – which could have a major impact on North Yorkshire.

If you feel strongly about this, it’s your chance to join the consultation and share your thoughts.

We would like to remind our levy-paying BID members that the upcoming business revaluations will NOT impact their BID levy.

The amount they pay annually is set for the full five year BID term in Skipton and will remain the same until 2029.

If you have any questions around this, please email us on info@skiptonbid.com

As we move into the winter months, scammers often take advantage of busy schedules and online trends.

It’s very important that you remain vigilant and protect yourself and your business through a series of tips.

We’ve designed a dedicated page on our website to support our business community to avoid any of these potential scams.

Giant Nutcracker models have taken over businesses to bring a magical festive feel into Skipton.

Fully funded by the BID, the trail aims to drive people into the town centre to support businesses at such an important time of the year.

In total 10 Nutcrackers have been placed in different businesses until January 4th in a bid to boost both footfall and spend.

A local working group is supporting safety in Skipton with the installation of a new CCTV camera.

The BID is proud to be a part of the Community Safety Working Group – which has secured funding for a temporary camera at the Bus Station.

We’re very pleased to be a part of this important initiative and look forward to positive results.

We were pleased to deliver a successful programme of Halloween events to encourage families into Skipton.

With both the pop-up pumpkin patch and the Monster Trail, we were delighted to bring more than 1,000 people into the town centre.

Some travelled from as far as Penrith in the north and Portsmouth in the south!

The latest ‘Buzzing Skipton’ workshop saw a group of young people get creative with poetry and planting.

Words grew with wildflowers during the Poetry and Storytelling session hosted at the Amphitheatre for 10 young people from the SELA charity.

These workshops are available thanks to a successful BID from the Mayor’s Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets Fund.

Skipton BID is committed to helping our town stay safe, secured and prepared.

Martyn’s Law ensures businesses and venues take the correct steps to protect from potential threats.

We’ve created a designated page on our website so you can learn how it may impact your business and access different guidance and resources.
