‘We loved it!’ – Success as hundreds visit Nutcracker Trail funded by Skipton BID over festive period
Skipton BID was delighted to fully fund and organise a festive Nutcracker Trail to support local businesses at a key time of the year.
The trail saw 10 different businesses host a giant Nutcracker model as a part of a route designed to encourage both local people and visitors to travel around the town centre.
It was hoped that the trail would help to boost footfall over the festive period – and feedback from the local business community suggests it did just that.
Data from the trail shows that around 800 people completed the trail, with visitors travelling from almost 60 different areas of the UK including Edinburgh, Dartford, Peterborough and the Lake District.
Sarah Howsen, Skipton BID Manager, said: “We were pleased to once again deliver a successful trail for the good of our town.
“We’ve received some lovely feedback from both local businesses and visitors that took part in the trail.
“It’s such an important time of the year for all of Skipton’s business community, so to be able to offer support in this way is always fantastic.
“We’ve got some exciting plans coming up for 2026, so watch this space…”
The Skipton BID team were also pleased to receive positive feedback from those that took part in the trail.
“We did this on our first visit to Skipton, we loved it! We will definitely be back,” one person commented social media.
Meanwhile, another added: “Our group of walkers took part in it this week – it was lovely! Thank you to the BID.”
The winner of the Nutcracker Trail prize package, generously donated by local businesses, is set to be selected at random over the coming days and will be contacted by Skipton BID.
The Business Improvement District (BID) is anticipating another busy year for the organisation in 2026 and the team are looking forward to delivering a series of events, campaigns and services to continue to enhance and improve the town centre for all.
