BID delighted to host successful first ever launch event for Skipton Business Awards
For the first time ever, Skipton BID was delighted to host a successful launch event for the Business Awards.
The Skipton Business Awards are held annually to shine a light on the fantastic work that the North Yorkshire town’s business network delivers on a daily basis.
The official launch event, organised for the first time by the Skipton BID team, was well attended by over 60 people from different organisations at Elsworth at the Mill on Wednesday evening (June 3rd).
The event was an ideal chance for business and charity representatives to find out more about how they can get involved with the awards, from sponsoring a category to submitting a general nomination.
Sarah Howsen, Skipton BID Manager, said: “We were thrilled to host our first ever launch event for the much‑loved Skipton Business Awards, bringing our community together to kick off this year’s exciting programme.
“There was a real buzz in the room — a mix of familiar faces, new voices and businesses who are genuinely proud to be part of Skipton’s story.
“The energy, ideas and optimism on display showed just how strong our community is – and it’s exciting to see everyone coming together to celebrate what makes this town such a vibrant place to work, live and visit.
“A huge thank you to the Elsworth at the Mill team for hosting us, it was a fantastic night to set the tone for the awards.”
Voting and nominations for the awards will officially open on Friday (June 5th) and will remain open until July 12th to allow for sufficient time for entries to be submitted. Following judging, the official awards ceremony will then be held at Skipton Town Hall on Monday, October 5th, where each of the winners will receive their prize.
There will be 12 categories in this year’s awards, with both new additions such as Best Evening Entertainment Venue and returning favourites including the Business Service Award, Pub/Bar of the Year and Best New Business.
One lucky winner will also be crowned as Skipton’s Shining Star – highlighting those going above and beyond to make a positive difference in the town. Both individuals and organisations can be nominated as the Shining Star for charitable work, volunteering, partnerships and making an overall outstanding contribution to the local community.
