Judging process
The nominations will be open from 1st June until the 9th July. The nominee needs to provide a minimum of 100 words explain why they believe their chosen business should win.
These will then be longlisted and the businesses will be contacted and asked to provide more detailed information in relation to the final judging criteria.
The judging by an independent judging panel will take place in July with the finalists announced in August.
Award Categories
Retailer of the Year – Skipton has a wide range retailers offering a variety of products. Whether it sells something unique, or offers exceptional levels of care for customers, tell us about your favourite retailer and why they deserve to win the award.
Pub/Bar of the Year – This award is for licensed premises which stand out from the crowd. Nominations encouraged for any venues which make your quick drink or big night out extra special.
Restaurant of the Year – Skipton has a wealth of restaurants serving a wide range of cuisine. Nominate your favourite and tell us what about it has really impressed you and makes it deserve the award.
Coffee Shop of the Year – Skipton has plenty of options whether you are looking for a coffee and cake or a light lunch. Tell us which one is your favourite spot and what makes it special enough to win our award.
Live Entertainment venue of the Year – The winner will offer regular and diverse range of live music or entertainment
Best New Business – Skipton is a great place to establish your business. This award celebrates a new business or company that has started within the past 12 months (Since Oct 2023). Open to all sectors
Professional Services Business of the Year – This award recognises the predominantly office-based businesses delivering professional services throughout the town. Nominations might include the financial or legal sectors, architects, design agencies, insurance brokers and so much more. Tell us who you think deserves to win.
Tourism Business of the Year –The winner of this award will be celebrating the tourist offer in the town, this could be an attraction, event, accommodation provider or business associated with the tourism or leisure sector.
Hair and Beauty Salon of the Year – Nominate your favourite salon and let us know why they deserve to win the award. With so many potential nominees throughout the town centre including hair, nails, skincare, and tattoo parlours, we want to know who you think is the best.
Health and Wellbeing Business of the Year – Recognising the local businesses committed to the wellbeing of their local community, we want you to tell us what makes them stand out above the rest. Open to any health related business including gyms/yoga/dance etc
Customer Service Team of the Year – The winner of this award will be the business which demonstrates exceptional levels of customer service. The category is open to all business types including retail, hospitality and professional services.
Long Service Award – We want to celebrate the businesses who have traded in Skipton for over 20 years. Let us know who you think deserves to win and what they bring to Skipton that makes them so successful.
