Crowds gather in hundreds as BID delighted to host another successful Yorkshire Day event to support Skipton

Skipton BID was delighted to host another successful Yorkshire Day event over the weekend as crowds gathered in their hundreds to join in with the fun.

The Business Improvement District (BID) fully funds and organises the Yorkshire Day celebration every year to encourage people into the town centre to support the Skipton business community, all while maintaining the town’s reputation as a must-visit destination.

The event was once again hosted on the Canal Basin and the adjacent Coach Street Car Park, with a series of activities, from a surf simulator and crazy golf to a petting zoo and circus trick workshops, taking place throughout the day. Then, for the first time, live music from different acts ran until the early evening.

The Skipton BID were thrilled with the response as the celebration was very well attended throughout the day, with constant streams of groups and families heading into the town centre to visit.

Sarah Howsen, Skipton BID Manager, said: “Yorkshire Day is always one of the most popular events in our calendar – and this year was certainly no exception!

“We’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone that came down on the day to make it another successful event, the space was jam packed across the day.

“We’d also like to thank all of the individuals and businesses that helped to bring it all together, your support is very much appreciated.

“We’re always pleased to deliver events like this to create memorable, unique experiences for everyone. Here’s to Yorkshire Day 2027!”

Feedback from those in attendance was highly positive too, with one person commenting: “What a wonderful day it was. We came with our granddaughter and had such a great day.”

In line with its ‘Vibrant and Inspiring’ objective, the BID hosts events such as this across the year to ensure Skipton remains a popular destination for both local people and visitors. Not only that, but these varied events help to drive both footfall and spend into the town centre.

The BID is currently planning further events for later in the year, so keep an eye on the social media channel’s and upcoming newsletters for more updates.
