Developing the Brand

Skipton BID continues to work on developing the Skipton brand to ensure it is well-recognised both regionally and nationally. Within this objective Skipton BID aims to develop the tourism offer and seed fund and deliver events within the town.

For further details on Objective 1 please read the business plan.

Tourism

Welcome to Skipton

In 2022 a new brand for the town was introduced. The aim of the brand is to enrich the lives of our communities and enhancing tourism and boosting business and position Skipton as a leading visitor destination. An image library has been developed and businesses will have access to the assets to incorporate into their promotional materials.

The digital presence has been improved with the introduction of a new website which has been developed, along with social media channels. All businesses have free access to the digital channels to promote their business.  Find out more here

Marketing and Promotion

Skipton BID is undertaking promotional campaigns to raise awareness of the town. Sponsored content on the Yorkshire Post and traditional print advertising in car parks and railway stations was introduced in July 2022.

Social media and marketing strategies are being developed to ensure Skipton raises it’s profile both nationally and regionally.

Events and Festivals

Skipton BID has continued to support Skipton Town Council and external partners on the delivery of new events. Events increase footfall to the town and raises awareness of Skipton as a destination.

Throughout this term we have supported a number of events including, Skipton Sheep Day, The Waterway’s Festival and The International Puppet Festival. In 2022 there was the introduction of Skipton Pride and the Foodie Weekend included in the annual events calendar, which were both financially supported by Skipton BID.

Skipton BID will continue to seed fund events with external partners and introduce new events to the town delivered by Skipton BID.

Trails

Robin Scavenger Trail
Skipton BID developed the Robin Scavenger Trail with retailers across the town, where Robin’s were hidden in various locations. Visitors were then encouraged to find the robins by following a number of clues. In total 25 businesses took part in the trail, with the aim to support businesses by increasing footfall across the whole of the town centre and promote lesser known areas.

Loyal Free Trails
Skipton BID is working with LoyalFree to offer a selection of trails around the town centre. The app allows businesses to be clustered to promote a themed trail, such as Vegan Skipton. The app can also promote themed trails for Halloween and Christmas which we will continue to develop.
