Computer Science at SGHS
Computing sits within the CREATE faculty at SGHS. The CREATE Faculty is an acronym for Computing, Robotics, Engineering, Art, Technology and Enterprise. They currently have ten teaching staff, with Curriculum Leaders for Art, Business Studies, Technology and
Computing and a Learning Director with an overview across all subjects in the faculty. They are fortunate to have the services of three technicians working across the department and beyond.
All subjects within CREATE maintain their individual identities within the faculty, with staff and students benefiting from cross-curricular conversations, the sharing of good practice and a team-based mutual support system.
Students are bright and enthusiastic and maintain a very high standard of work, while developing the skills and creativity they need to be independent and self-regulated learners, preparing them for examination and future careers.
All subjects across the faculty are option choices at GCSE and are very popular amongst students. Students opt at the end of Year 9 and begin their two year GCSE journey in Year 10. At present, students in Computer Science follow the OCR J277 Computer Science for GCSE and OCR H446 Computer Science for A Level.
