Social Media Workshop on Instagram
We’re pleased to once again fully fund social media workshops to support our Member businesses.
Join Sarah and the SBC Studio team for this FREE workshop on September 3rd to learn all things Instagram!
You’ll learn about how the latest algorithm works, what content will perform best, how to increase followers, ways to boost engagement, how to reach the best audience and more.
PLEASE NOTE -This workshop is open to BID Member businesses ONLY.
Lone Working and Conflict Management
Build confidence, improve personal safety and learn practical strategies for managing challenging situations.
Join this engaging three-hour interactive workshop delivered by Heald Training.
The course will cover making strong first impressions, understanding body language, emotional control, situational awareness, lone working and more.
The next session will be held at the Skipton BID Office on Tuesday, September 22nd from 9.30am – 12.30pm.
We have been made aware that a number of counterfit £20 notes have recently been used in Skipton, so please take a moment so check any £20 notes you receive.
Look out for the hologram changing from ‘Twenty’ to ‘Pounds’, the clear see through window, raise print you can feel, sharp, high-quality printing, correct foil colours and security features.
A campaign has been launched across the UK to protect high streets from the financial loss and reputational damage caused by counterfit notes.
The campaign is focused on promoting simple steps for checking bank notes, including an online toolkit to support businesses.
We’re looking to work alongside our local businesses to potentially put together a late-night shopping initiative in Skipton later this year.
We have pulled together a survey for businesses to complete to share their thoughts and feelings on the idea.
We have already received positive feedback from a number of retailers, but it would be great to gather responses from businesses in other sectors.
If you could spare 5 minutes to answer the questions, it would be very much appreciated!
Love Your High Street is all about celebrating the brilliant businesses that give our high street character and vibrancy!
The Love Your High Street awards are currently running – giving people a chance to shout about their favourite businesses.
It would be great to see a few Skipton names on there, so give them a vote if you can!
There are also a series of assets available to anyone looking to support the campaign.
We are delighted to share that the finalists for this year’s Skipton Business Awards have now been chosen and contacted.
The judges said that this was their most difficult year yet to whittle it down to three businesses in every category – with some tough competition in each!
A huge congratulations to all of the businesses that have reached the final of the awards – and a big thank you to everyone that entered! We were over the moon with such a high amount of nominations at over 1,200.
We’re pleased to share that we have entered the 2026 Yorkshire in Bloom Awards.
The judges visited us in Skipton last month and we’re looking forward to receiving the results in September.
We had a great day showing the judges our town’s floral offer, from hundreds of planters to the Buzzing Skipton project.
Let’s cross our fingers for a win to keep Skipton on the map as a floral destination!
BID delighted with successful Yorkshire Day
We were so pleased to host yet another successful Yorkshire Day event in Skipton.
Crowds gathered in their hundreds across the day to take part in the activities, from circus tricks and giant darts to a surf simulator and crazy golf!
The live music offer was a success too, with many taking to the Canal Basin to enjoy a bite to eat, a lovely drink and some relaxing tunes into the evening.
We’re looking forward to bringing the Yorkshire Day fun back to Skipton next year. Here’s to 2027!

The adverts will be featured in the section where exhibitors are listed and the plan of the mart, so will get high exposure.
The guide will also feature on the Yarndale website and social media channela – with 47,000 engaged followers on Facebook and 34,000 on Instagram.
